Mr Robert Hutchison was a quality assurance engineer at Broughton aircraft factory before his retirement in 1983. He was a spitfire pilot during WW II and took part in the North Africa campaign in 1942. He was a member of the bowling club.
There was a memorial exhibition of his paintings at Buckley Library from 9th May to 3rd June 1994 at the request of his wife, Jean. There was a total of 70 paintings in watercolour, pastel,watercolour/airbrush, pencil, oil, and pen and ink. The subjects ranged from local (Bistre Farm) to far away (Scott Monument, Edinburgh). The paintings had been loaned by their owners, family members and friends, especially for the exhibition. It was a fitting tribute to his achievement as an artist.
