September 1989
Thomas Dempster Jones was 75 when he died in September 1989. He was born in Harlech in 1914 and attended the college there. In WW II he worked in the Broughton aircraft factory. In 1942 he joined the RAF and after the war set up business in Buckley as a photographer in a converted chapel schoolroom. He retired in 1978.
He started painting in the early 1960s and although not formally trained he was very successful, specialising in portraits, horses and landscapes. His work has been exhibited at the Royal Cambrian Academy of Arts, the Royal Academy and the Paris Salon, as well at the National Eisteddfod.
