THE JAPANESE FACTORY
In a casual conversation at a dinner at the Windmill, one of the adults who had accompanied the children on an exchange trip from the Elfed School, explained how the factory came to be in Buckley. The owner of the company was looking for a site in Wales and his father advised him to look where "that place, Buckley, was" as Tokyo Railway Station had been built with Buckley brick and he reckoned that any place that made such good bricks must be a tidy place!
The factory has since closed and now belongs to Whitley's and is now the training centre for Airbus (11.05).
