In October 2004, Canon Bowers organised a sponsored thirty mile Tandem Cycle Ride around Buckley Common which raised over £500 for the Wylie Slum School Project in India. The ladies of Saint John's United Reformed Church provided refreshments. Canon Frank Haslam thanked everyone who had participated.
