2002
Originally known as The Bistre Drama Group, The Buckley Theatre Club was formed in 1957 and has performed a pantomime almost every year since. It also performs plays and in 2003 it established a youth section. It began performing in the Parish Rooms, then Eden House before moving to the Hawkesbury Little Theatre in 1984.
The granting of a 25 year lease on the theatre building enabled the Club to extend the facilities of their theatre. In addition to the major alterations that took place in the first phase of the refurbishment of the theatre building (which included a kitchen and toilets), the Buckley Theatre Club gained planning permission for a further £80,000 worth of improvements in October 2003. The Club applied to the Arts Council of Wales for funds to increase the seating capacity from 130 to more than 200, and to build a larger stage and new dressing rooms. The existing seats were bought from an amateur group in Chester in 1989 and were originally from the Odeon cinema in Burnley. There are also plans to install a new sound system.
