In November 2006, a special Remembrance Day ceremony took place. Mayor Councillor Ken Iball laid a tribute. President of the Buckley Branch of the Royal British Legion, Arthur Gill, wore an Australian army hat in memory of his uncle, Tom Harding who was serving with the 29th Battalion Australian Commonwealth Forces in Europe in WWI when he was killed.
