Mold Area Youth Council presented at the Elfed High School
Northop Silver Band and Hawarden Singers in
"Sounds of Brass and Voices"
on Sunday 14th October 1979 at 8 pm.
Admission: £1 adults; 50p OAPs and children.
The Northop Silver Band was founded in 1894 in Sychdyn, moving to Northop in 1897.
Hawarden Singers was founded in 1954.

In January 2004, the school celebrated its 50th anniversary, with a special event on 23rd at 7 pm. An exhibition of the school's history was prepared for the occasion.

In the Autumn of 2004, David Cropper, Elwyn Cropper's son, donated a grand piano to the school. The school paid £175 to transport it from Hemel Hempstead and £800 to refurbish and tune it. The school had not had a grand piano for 30 years.

At the end of the summer term, 2005, Barry Smallwood retired as Head of Music after 39 years of teaching. A concert was held at the school on Saturday July 9th with music from the school's two bands, the wind orchestra and jazz band. He was born in Buckley and studied at Bangor.

In January 2006, a new headteacher was appointed - Rosemary Jones- who succeeded Philip Pierce. She was to take up her post in the Spring.
