I thought it would be useful to be provide the formula by which one can work out on which day of the week a person was born, given the full date.

HOW TO FIND THE DAY OF THE WEEK ON WHICH YOU WERE BORN

1. Take the last two digits of the year in which you were born.

2. Add a quarter to that number, ignoring any fraction of a year.

3. Add the date in the month on which you were born.

4. Add the month factor as follows:- January - 1 (or 0 for a leap year)

February - 4 (or 3 for a leap year)

March - 4

April - 0

May - 2

June - 5

July - 0

August - 3

September - 6

October - 1

November - 4

December - 6

5. Take away 1 if after 1999; add 2 if before 1900; add 4 if before 1800.

N.B. This formula does not work for dates before 14 September 1752 when the calendar was altered by losing eleven days.

6. Divide the total number by 7 and use the remainder left over to check the day of the week from the following table:-

1 = Sunday

2 = Monday

3 = Tuesday

4 = Wednesday

5 = Thursday

6 = Friday

0 = Saturday
