BUCKLEY SWIMMING CLUB

6th July 1928

Buckley Swimming Baths opened 23rd June 1928 at 4.30 pm. by Lord Lieutenant of Flintshire, Mr Henry N. Gladstone.

20th July 1928

SWIMMING:- At a meeting of the Buckley Swimming Club held on Monday, Mr Fred Griffiths (newsagent) was elected as chairman of the new swimming club. Mr G. P. Metcalf was elected Secretary and Mr C. Kelsall, Treasurer. Mr Bert Bellis was elected as Captain for the season. It was stated that the Buckley Swimming Club had become affiliated to the Cheshire County Amateur Swimming and Water Polo Association. Mr Metcalf informed those present that already over fifty members had joined the club. Four were qualified instructors and they hoped to have a strong team for matches in the near future.
