Garton's HP sauce bottle"

I found this Garton's HP sauce bottle while walking my dog around the Trap Pool in November 2002. It was in the pile of spoil created while building the new toilet block for the fishing club. These bottles had cork stoppers and I remember them from the 1940s. I wonder if this bottle had been there all that time and what were the circumstances under which it was discarded.

(I found another bottle in the same place soon after. It had "BEANO" on one side and "SAUCE" on the other.)
