DADDY WORKS THERE - OLD EWLOE BRICKWORKS
Old Ewloe Brickworks was opened about 1862, adjacent to John Royle & Co.'s Etna Brickworks. This and the nearby Globe Works were acquired by Messrs Charles Davison & Co. Ltd. Ultimately only Old Ewloe remained and was closed down during the 1970s. After complete demoliton and clearance the site was used as a council area refuse dump. The huge combined clayhole was filled in, levelled off and has now been converted into a nature/leisure park called Etna Heritage Park, under the supervision Phil Hodges.
