In June 2004, Mr Dewi Salisbury retired as town clerk after eight years. Mr Salisbury had worked in local government for 43 years, working in the previous Flintshire County Council and Alyn and Deeside District Council.

In April 2008, the Buckley Town Council investigated the cost of the Christmas lights. At the time it was paying Flintshire County Council £18,516 to provide them; this included £59 per hour for call-outs to replace faulty bulbs and maintenance. The work was to be put out to tender.
