The group was formed after a public meeting. The Buckley Improvement Group, led by Ian Coles, organised and completed various projects around Buckley in order to improve the environment. Examples included sponsoring benches, campaigning for litter bins around the town (donated by Castle Cement) and organising litter picks such as this one on National Spring Clean Day. Notices for this event were placed in the library and shops but there was nil public response. Group members, however, worked hard on this and other occasions to clear litter from sites such as this one on the junction of Brunswick and Victoria Roads.
