Alderman Arthur Jones died in April 2005 aged 95. He served almost 60 years as a councillor and was a Labour Party member for 78. He had served as chairman of Flintshire County (1964) and Buckley Urban District Councils (1950). He was also mayor of Buckley. He was very involved in local football for amny years. He started work in one of the brickworks and then went to Shotton steelworks.
He was chairman of the Buckley Choral Society. He wrote hymns, poems and an account of his life called "I trod this way".
