An unknown newspaper review stated:
An excellent performance of the juvenile drama, "Emil and the Detective" ....was given by some 50 pupils of the Elfed Secondary Modern School, Buckley in the school hall on Wednesday.
Both the acting and presentation of the play was of a high standard and the play, liberally sprinkled with comedy antics and sinister deeds of London gangsters, provided first class entertainment for the audience of 350.
