June 1953
I am a retired electrical engineer (4.05) and I installed all the equipment at the laundry when it opened. There was a decontamination unit at the Rhydymwyn mustard gas factory. The whole lot was bought in order to get the laundry started - dryers, washers, etc. Then dry cleaning machine was bought. I was moonlighting from my job at Summers' and worked well into the night to get the job done.
When Sam, the part-owner with his brother, Harold, died his son, Keith, took over. He was a chemist and knew little about the laundry so I went to work there and helped him as engineer and dogs body! He opened a shop with dry cleaning equipment next to the Lloyd's Bank in Mold Road.
