AN INDUSTRIAL AND POTTERY WALK ROUND BUCKLEY - NUMBERS 34 AND 35

34. A colliery was sunk at the eastern end of the common by Messrs Watkinson and Co. early last century. Workings were established under the south of the town, beneath earlier shallow seams, and extended as far as Padeswood. The colliery was closed about 1930. Little Johnny and Little Jimmy worked in the lamp room.

35. Continue along Hawkesbury Road as far as the Mountain Lane School. Continue east, along the footpath to Daisy Hill. An iron boundary post almost hidden on the right hand side along the path marked the site of the "Bull's Foot". This was the starting point of the Ewloe Manor Court Leete perambulation of the 18th and 19th centuries, to ensure the consistency of the boundaries.
