AN INDUSTRIAL AND POTTERY WALK ROUND BUCKLEY - NUMBER 13 AND 14
13. Looking back at this point,we see the middle common extending sout west alongside a deep pool. Irregular hummocks along the right side of the pool are Fey Hills. The flooded clayhole was excavated over a period of time for Catherall's Ewloe Brickworks. Over-burden was heaped up alongside and never replaced afterwards. This waste soil is known in Buckley as "Fey".
14. Benjamin Cotterill's pottery is situated a few hundred yards down Pinfold Lane, on the right hand side. All that can be seen is a shallow tree-enshrouded pond and the croft. Early seventeenth century wasters, as well as vessels identical to Canadian imports, have been found here. A kiln site and culverts have also been recorded.
