AN INDUSTRIAL AND POTTERY WALK ROUND BUCKLEY - NUMBER 6

Turn left up Drury Lane, pass between the two clay holes, one of which has now been filled in with rubbish. The Buckley fireclay fault passes towards Northop Hall. At the Horse and Jockey public house, Aston and Co. brickworks were situated until WWI. This was the terminus of the Buckley Railway of 1862.

When the Wrexham, Mold and Connah's Quay line was completed, the top part of the line was by-passed. It was then designated "Ashton Branch Siding".

Opposite is Tram Road. Tramways linking up the town's brickworks and collieries once passed down here.

Carry on along Tram Road. Cross the old railway track. This proceeds from the railway terminus to Mountain Colliery opposite the Saint John's United Reformed Church. The ruinous crossing gates have since been removed.

Many old single-story cottages, now fully modernised, lie along this road and next to the common. Turn right to Saint Matthew's Parish Church.
