At the time, the post office premises was a shop run by William Owens and Sons - a taxi business and sold cycles. The present owner is Mr Neil Cropper (2002). The house on the right is Number 1, Chester Road, the home of Joshua Hayes before he was married. The house passed to his sister and brother-in-law, Mr and Mrs Thomas and Cora Aston.
