RULES OF BELLRINGING - SEE 20.1 FOR FIRST PART OF DOCUMENT
FLAG DAYS
The Church Flag shall be hoisted on the following days - wind and weather permitting:
1 The Four Great Festivals of the Church, including the Sunday in the Octave, and on Trinity Sunday.
2 Monday and Tuesday in Easter week, and Whitsun week.
3 All Saints' Days and Holy Days for which a Collect, Epistle, and Gospel are provided for in the Prayer Book.
4 Dedication Festival. Harvest Festival. Ascension Day.
5 Day or occasion of national or local rejoicing, as judged proper by the Vicar.
N.B. - Flag to be lowered at sunset on all occasions.
DUTIES OF STEEPLE-KEEPER.
The Parish Clerk and Sexton is hereby appointed Steeple-keeper.
It shall be his duty to keep the keys of the Church Tower.
To keep Bell, Ringing Chambers, and Stairway, in a clean and orderly condition.
To lubricate the bell bearings, and tighten nuts when necessary, and to keep bell frames and floors free from dirt, to hoist the Flag, and wind the Clock as necessary.
He shall at once report to the Vicar and Churchwardens any defects and needful repairs.
CAUTION. Those who are responsible any evening for seeing the Chime Hammers are properly off or on, before or after practice, are asked to be very careful that all is right, otherwise most serious injury might be done to the bells.
NOTE. It is most important that all Clock Hammers are taken off the Bells, either ringing or chiming, and are put on directly after.
