W.E.A. CLASS

W.E.A. (Workers' Educational Association) classes were held in a small upper room in the Hawkesbury Hall community centre. I was the tutor taking classes on Buckley history. I took the classes for several years. Ten or more people would enrol each year for about ten weeks. I borrowed books from the library service when necessary on local and general history. I organised outdoor rambles around, for example, Knowl Hill and to sites of the once prosperous brickworks. Sometimes we went further afield to places like Moel y Gaer and Loggerheads. I enjoyed these sessions very much as people showed a lot of interest.
