On the subject of food, the Ministry of Food announced in September 1951 that because supplies of butter from abroad and home have been disappointing it was necessary to reduce the ration temporarily from 4oz. to 3oz. a week from September 9th. The 4oz. ration had been in place since 10th September 1950. It had been 5oz. from April 23rd 1950.
