WILLOW COLLIERY
One of a series of small collieries from Ewloe Barn to the Trap which were named after trees. The Willow was situated just below the Trap Pool. The Fey Hills are on the right. Coal tips have been removed from the area over the years.
There were two pools, one belonging to Catherall's to the North and the other to Gibson to the South, separated by a narrow strip. When Gibson gave up, it was made into one big pool.
This picture depicts the colliery towards the end of the demolition period, as the site had been cleaned up.
