JAMES BENTLEY - BY 'IMSELF
Born in N.E. Lancashire. Married. Two grown up daughters and one son. Came to Buckley in 1956. Self employed (professional capacity). Practising member of Saint John's United Reformed Church, Buckley and of several local organisations including "TocH", The Buckley Society, Flintshire Historical Society, North Wales Branch of Cyclist Touring Club and also W.E.A. Class Tutor and former branch secretary.
Practises several hobbies arising from interest in local heritage. These include painting and sketching, cycling, and dialect poetry writing. Self-taught painter and amateur archaeologist. Actively engaged in spare time amateur archaeology. Has excavated two local pottery sites of early 17th century origin. Written several unpublished manuscripts on excavations of pottery sites and of tramways and clay industry in Buckley. Also had articles published in local papers and periodicals.
