I lived in Brook House . When I was a youngster of about eight to ten years of age, my mother sent me to Ellis Powell's house for milk straight from the cow. Mrs Annie Powell used to take down from the wall a milking stool and obligingly milked the cow for roughly two pints of milk into what was called the "gowgin"(an aluminium jug holding the two pints). They had about three cows in total which were kept in the field alongside.
