Sitting in Hawkesbury Garden"

Hawkesbury Garden, Mill Lane, Buckley

1956

Nora was one of his daughters. He was a blacksmith in Lancashire. When he retired, he returned to live in Alltami at Brook House. He was born in Llwyn Offa and Brook House was being built at the time (1866). Brook House was built for the princely sum of £200, in those days - a bargain! The house has been in the family ever since.

The rose that my grandfather is sporting in his button-hole was the one which he asked me to get from the garden which was the biggest one I could find. I was twelve.
