Buckley pottery pancheon"

1900

I remember the pancheon being used by my mother for bread making, baking and at Christmas time when she made at least 5 Christmas Cakes. She used this "Buckley mug" for mixing bread and letting the dough raise before the mixture was shaped into loaves and buns and was put in the old black-leaded oven range. Making bread and baking was a task undertaken at least fortnightly. The pancheon was in almost continual use, certainly during the 1950's and 1960's, in the village of Ewloe.
