SECRET POOL OF THE WATER NYMPHS

CAPTION ONE

Many Buckley youngsters first learned to swim in the deep pools attached to certain brickworks. In spite of intense preventative measures by the companies, obscure clearings on the banks of these pools are occupied by groups on hot suummer afternoons, indulging in this form of nature worship.

CAPTION TWO

Although the first public baths in Flintshire were established in Buckley, it was customery until quite recently for many Buckley youngsters to flock in summer to Brookhill Pool. In the secluded gorse-enshrouded alcoves around sun-trapped banks, nature worship was a popular pastime.
