Councillor Elizabeth M. Jones, Town mayor of Buckley 1982 - 83

Taken after the Civic Service, leaving Drury Methodist Church on Sunday 6th June 1982. Beforehand the parade assembled at Drury Primary School and marched to the church behind the Royal Buckley Town Band.

Councillor Arthur Jones, CBE, JP was Councillor Mrs Elizabeth Jones' consort.

The white fronted building was formerly the Drury Co-op but at the time of the photo was owned by Noel Jones.

Cllr Jones, was the first lady to be elected mayor of Buckley for 36 years.

Cllr Ken Lloyd was elected deputy mayor.
