THE PIG KILLER

In popular demand, each autumn, until early this century, was a pig killer. He slaughtered the Buckley commoners' pigs and in return was given a piece of pork. Here, whilst the butcher surveys his victim, his assistant prepares to noose it. It was an auspicious occasion and everyone took part, or else looked on, with alarm and anguish, at the bloody scene.
