Joseph Lewis (Joe) was the eldest son born on July 27th 1900 and died May 21st 1971. He attended Saint Matthew's School. He worked at Courtaulds and De Havilands before running his own business, The Willow Concrete Works.

 

He played for the local football clubs - Buckley Town, Rhyl, Connah's Quay. He was chosen to play for Tranmere Rovers 1923 - 1925. He played in the Second Eleven team in the 1923 - 4 season. He played the first and last match with Dixie Dean.

 

He was a member of Buckley Urban District Council 1947 - 1967, representing Ewloe Wood Ward. He was chairman in 1954.

 

He was a founder member of Cancer Research, Buckley Branch.
