Charles Duckworth's wife was from Groomsdale Lane, Hawarden.

The shop was an 'Aladdin's Cave' of ironmongery of all descriptions, paraffin and oil were delivered round the area. When we first moved to Buckley in 1968, our brand-new house had a coal fire (the central heating came later!) and our first purchases from Duckworth's shop were a shovel, coal bucket, and a spade and fork for the new garden, which are still in use today.
