BELOW IS A RESUME OF THE DETAILS OF THE OWENS AND PETERS FAMILIES TAKEN FROM CENSUS RETURNS 1841 - 1881

 

1. Flintshire - Heartsheath. 1841

William Owens (50) - my great, great grandfather. Blacksmith and wife, Frances (40) and family of seven children: John (14), ?, ?, Charles (6), ?(4), Frances ( 11), Rebecca (8)

 

2. Flintshire - Higher Kinnerton. 1841

Thomas Owens (55 - almost certainly William's brother) - Blacksmith and wife, Jane (55)

 

3. Cheshire - Higher Kinnerton. 1851

Thomas Owens (67) - Blacksmith and Jane (65). This time Higher Kinnerton is counted as Cheshire, and, unlike the earlier census, the place of birth is stated now Dodleston, so it must refer to William's brother

 

4. Cheshire - Rake, part of Hawarden. 1851

William Owens (24) - Blacksmith, working for a family employing many servants. This is certain to be the son of William and Frances, and brother to my great grandfather, Edward.

 

5. Cheshire - Mancot. 1851

Edward Owens (28) - and wife Jane (22 - my great grandparents) and daughter, Frances (2 months)

 

6. Flintshire - Mold, Spon Green. 1881

Edward Owens (59) - Blacksmith (birthplace Hope, Flint) and wife Jane (46 - b. Hope, Flint), Edwin ( 24 - son; collier b. Bistre, Flint), Rebecca (20 - dau. b. Northop, Flint), and William (10 - son, scholar b. Bistre, Flint)

(Edwin used to visit the Holy Land and all over Europe)

 

7. Flintshire - Bistre. 1891

Edward Owens - and wife Jane with Mary Ann Wilcock (24? - widowed daughter), William (21 - son) and Gittens Wilcock (5? - god daughter and Mary Ann's son)

Edward Peters (35) - Brickmaker and wife, Priscilla (30) and family: Esther (12), Thomas (5), Martha (3)

 

9. Flintshire - 2, Long Row, Mold. 1881

Rebecca Peters (43) - widow, and Martha, my grandmother (11 b.Mold, Flint), and William (9 scholar b. Mold, Flint) and Richard (7 scholar b. Mold, Flint)

10. Flintshire - Bistre. 1891

Rebecca Peters - widow (occupation stated as dressmaker), and her children, Martha, and William (19) and Richard (17)
