Don Keeley's building used to be the Tabernacle Sunday School before the new one was built opposite the Tabernacle Church in Padeswood Road. This later again became the Buckley Cross Church.

During World War II, the original Sunday School in Mill Lane was used as an evacuee reception centre. About two hundred evacuees came to Buckley altogether.
