At 5 am on 18th January 1913, a fire was discovered at Cropper and Jones' printing works. The Mold fire brigade was called and because of the snow-bound roads it did not arrive until 6.10 am. Chester fire brigade arrived on the scene at 7.30 am. by which time the works was completely gutted.

 

Thomas Cropper was elected to B.U.D.C. in April 1919. He was vice-chairman of the Mold Eisteddfod committee.
