Our visitors
Dechovy Orchestr Cerveny Kostelec
The town of Cerveny Kostelec is situated in the North of the Czech Republic, quite near to the Polish border. It is a quiet lakeside resort, with a spa.
The name Cerveny Kostelec means "the church with the red roof" and on our three visits there, the last being in 1990, we found in the middle of the town this beautiful church with its red roof gleaming in the sunshine.
Since we last greeted our visitors in 1989 the band has increased its membership to over 60 players, their ages ranging from 14 years to its oldest member who is 70 years young. As with the Royal Buckley Town Band it is encouraging to see both young and old making music their hobby.
In addition to the familiar instruments which form part of the Btitish Brass Bands, you will see the usual shape and operation of the "tenors" and the "baritones" which help create a very special sound, so different from that produced by our brass bands.
We hope that you will enjoy this friendly and very entertaining brass orchestra
Joan Jones - Vice-Chairman
