The Hawarden Singers, directed by Emlyn Roberts, performed a "Festival of Dedication Recital" on Tuesday 17th October 1971 at 7.30 pm. Admission 15p.

In the June magazine 1992, there was mention of the 25th anniversary of the Bistre Garden Fete with a call for all the previous Queens to meet in the grounds of the Bistre Home on June 20th for a photo.

In 9.8.2001, a restoration fund to clean the church's windows was boosted by an garden party organised by Margaret Mole which raised £294.

In October 2005, Reverend Martin Batchelor, 38 years old, was appointed to the Parish of Bistre. He served in Swansea and Brecon before coming to the Rectorial Benefice of Hawarden in 2000, where he was vicar of Sandycroft. His induction took place in November 2005 at the church.

Sarah Bartley (nee Hughes) died September 1931, aged 58. She was born and spent all her life in Buckley; she lived opposite the Nant pub.

DEATH OF MRS. SARAH BARTLEY
The death took place on Sunday of Mrs. Bartley, wife of Mr. Thomas Bartley, of 53, Padeswood Road. Mrs. Bartley, who was 58, had only been ill one week. The large number who attended the funeral on Wednesday testified to the esteem in which Mrs. Bartley was held. Before the cortege left the home the Rev. A. W. Rees, M.A. (Vicar of Bistre), conducted a short service, and afterwards officiated at the parish church. The service was choral. The hymn was "Thy way not mine, O Lord." Mr. Jack Jones played "O Rest in the Lord," and the Dead March in "Saul."
