Sometime before 1760, Jonathan Catherall I established the Trap Brickworks to be taken over in 1762 by Jonathan Catherall II. In 1936, it was bought by Castle Fire Brick Company and by Butterley Brick in 1972. It was closed in 1985 and demolished in 1986, when this sequence of photos was taken.
