THE JUBILEE CENTENARY SHIELD 1857 - 1957

In the year 2001, it was Saint John's turn to look after the shield. However, in the autumn, the demolition started so the shield had to be removed to another place of worship for safe keeping. This photo was taken before the demolition of the building had started, though the machinery was on site. The light was just about good enough to take this. I was in the church with Jim Bentley and Elvet Parry.
